Dishonored: Death of the Outsider delivers more of what players expect from the Dishonored series: a fantastic amalgamation of tense stealth segments, all-out action-packed combat, and some incredibly well designed environments to explore. It manages to introduce some clever ideas of its own too, ensuring that series veterans will find themselves tested by the trials that Billie faces on her journey. That being said, there isn’t as much flexibility in how much you can expand on Billie’s powers as there has been in previous games, though it doesn’t really hinder the experience in any shape or form – there’s still almost endless possibilities in how you decide to play the game. Dishonored: Death of the Outsider offers another stunning adventure that not only lives up to the high standards of the series, but also does it at a cut-price. It’s a must play title that fans of action-packed stealth adventures simply need to check out – just try to make sure you finish Dishonored 2 first…

Packed with 5 main mission, 13 side quests, and 8 collectibles you get an AAA quality game well worth the $29,99 asking price — highly recommended for trophy hunters who want an enjoyable, quick and easy platinum trophy.

Death of the Outsider might be smaller in scope (and launch price) than the first two games, yet Arkane has crafted a game that meets the quality of design found in those games. It takes the best bits of the series and improves them, putting together a story that feels personal despite its huge ambition and featuring what may be the best Dishonored protagonist yet. If Death of the Outsider ends up being the closing chapter for the Dishonored series, then it is a truly fitting conclusion.

I don’t want to give away too much and spoil anyone’s fun, but rest assured that Death of the Outsider is a worthy installment in the series. It lightens up on the story consequences from your actions and allows a much more liberated approach to your gameplay in which I found myself gleefully slaughtering guards more than creeping around corners. If you feel like I didn’t touch on the story, it was intentional. The title doesn’t leave much mystery on the main goal of the game and giving away details is not my style – go discover them for yourself.

It was wonderfully satisfying to have more Dishonored to play, even if Death of the Outsider doesn't quite meet the high bar Dishonored 2 set in story or mission design. Even though it's a shorter and slightly shallower game, there are some exciting new abilities and interesting changes to the energy system, and the freedom from consequences of Chaos further encourage experimentation and freedom. All in all, it's a worthy end to the story that began five years ago.

I don’t know where the series goes from here, but if it’s done, that’s a shame because the contracts make this game. It's a great continuation of the series that addressed the shortcomings of the last game and took advantage of it being something supplementary to a larger experience. Simpler but more versatile powers, a more open-ended approach to seeking objectives, characters with understandable motivations and emotional stakes, and a more downplayed moral choice system lead to an experience that's easier to pick up but more rewarding the deeper you go.

There's an argument to be made for the series to continue on as much as there is for the franchise (at least in its current form) to end on a high note like Dishonored: Death of the Outsider, and with that last point, it serves as a bloody finish to a beautifully violent series.

Dishonored: Death of the Outsider faced a difficult task — to tie loose ends, and bring the Kaldwin era of the franchise to an end. Unfortunately, this high-profile target slipped away from it, but this standalone expansion is a good Dishonored experience nonetheless. Although a little shorter and shallower than you might expect.

Death of the Outsider is just more Dishonored in about every way, but it could have been a unique experience with a few additions like the aforementioned inclusion of mini-bosses and some co-operative missions with Daud. But I enjoyed my time slinking through its world and saying goodbye to an underappreciated franchise that opens the door for an all new direction if the story is to be continued.

Dishonored: Death of the Outsider could have easily been great for value DLC, but as a stand-alone game for $30, some players may feel a little cold after the 6-7 hours of game time. There is an Original Game+ mode that adds new abilities to the characters of Dishonored 2, but if you've had your fill of reliving past glories, you'll probably get through the game in a solid nights' play.

For an expansion that took nearly an entire year to arrive and priced at a premium, Death of the Outsider fails to deliver.

Standard Dishonored gameplay remains entertaining, but from concept to execution, the writing of Dishonored: Death of the Outsider leaves much to be desired.
