Super Daryl Deluxe is one of the more unique titles available today. It takes familiar a 2D platformer and mashes it with an Action RPG while adding a dash of Metroidvania for good measure. Add to that the seriously impressive animation and art style and the game is well on its way to being a cult hit.
Super Daryl Deluxe is such a fun and good game that when I finished it, all that I could wish for is that it could be turned into a TV show so I'd be able to keep immersed in its universe. With an irreverent humor, allied to a huge amount of easter eggs from historical facts, movies, books, and other games, the title is a highlight and is a great source of fun for the lovers of the pop and geek culture.

All that said Super Daryl Deluxe is a pretty substantial (easily in the 20+ hour range), challenging, action-packed, boss-filled, weird and wild adventure-action-rpg-metroidvania. Its hilariously odd soundtrack is a labor of “Daryl”-filled love, its art is like something straight out of a trippy comic book and yet looks great in motion, and it has more jokes and feel-good nods than you’d believe. Just like its title character there’s much more to Super Daryl Deluxe than some video or this review can fully convey, and its a trip (perhaps acid?) well worth taking.
Super Daryl Deluxe is the delicious, unique and fun representation of absurdity. For platformer, RPG, metroidvania games fans, this game is a must to have. The game deserves every penny you would spend for it. It is cheap, fun like hell and it has a unique humor. Play it, you will never regret it.
I cannot overstate the hilarity in this game. The combat is fun, if a bit tedious at times, but it never drops the ball on consistently delivering humor in oddball situations, built around a cast of lovable characters. With a little luck, you just might learn something you were never taught in highscool.
I really enjoyed my time with Super Daryl Deluxe, a really unique beat' em up/Metroidvania that was definitely worth my time – and will be worth yours. The game is the drug trip I never knew I needed – in a good way. Honestly, I've played a ton of great Metroidvania titles, but none of them have made me laugh this hard – and so much. This is a game that deserves to be played!
Humour is a tough aspect for games to get right, but Super Daryl Deluxe nails its dry, surrealist American-indie tone. Despite the inherent repetition of the RPGvania match-up, the writing, graphical style, and imagination that Dan & Gary Games have packed in here mark it out as a wonderfully weird indie gem.
Super Daryl Deluxe is one of the coolest games on Nintendo Switch right now. Its skill-based combat will have you coming back for more as you unlock numerous abilities that change the game, the story will have you laughing with its witty through line, and the visual presentation is a sight to behold thanks to a stylish art style that is sure to please. If you ever need a bit of a pick me up, there's not much better than playing Super Daryl Deluxe on the go.
Super Daryl Deluxe combines solid Metroidvania and RPG mechanics to create a game that would be good based on that criteria alone, but the creators went all out to bring their vision of an extremely absurd high school to life.
However, Super Daryl Deluxe is fantastic despite those minor inconveniences. The story becomes increasingly strange, the locations increasingly surreal, and the dialogue increasingly funny. I can't say I've played too many games like this, and I'm very happy to have had the opportunity.
Super Daryl Deluxe’s action-RPG style side-scrolling brawling and bizarre questing makes for a unique and enjoyable experience, with the action-packed adventure proving satisfying throughout. Add to that the stunningly creative art style, and it’s easy to get yourself absorbed in the fairly meaty adventure. It is guilty of feeling a little repetitive at times and there could be a bit too much of an emphasis on grinding out battles with enemies, but in all Super Daryl Deluxe was a hell of a lot of fun. It’s certainly a game that action-RPG fans with an affinity for Napoleon Dynamite won’t want to miss out on…
Remember those weird and awkward days of trying to fit in in high school? Well, they're about to get weirder. And awkwarder. A retro style game about that crazy and scary period of time during high school, you can follow the poster child for weird and dorky, Daryl, as he tries to make sense of his teenage years. Also, dimensional rifts and brainwashing, strange creatures, and super powers.
Super Daryl Deluxe is a unique mixture of comedy and historical events and characters that has led to the creation of a beautiful Metroidvania RPG that absolutely worth your time. Super Daryl Deluxe has a distinct atmosphere and art style that we had never seen in any game before and also i must say that the "comedy" is the main part of everything we've seen in this game. Super Daryl Deluxe has a huge amount of various content and take you to an amazing 25-30 hours journey and surprise you again and again. But… a huge but is the “manual save system” that damages this game and your experience very bad. You must save the game in bathrooms and if you forget to do this, you may lose a big part of your progress and this happened to me a few times and made me so mad, because I had to play again a big part of the game. With all this, i must say that Super Daryl Deluxe is one of the best choice for fans of RPGs and unique games with a huge amount of various content and amazing gameplay elements. Just don’t forget to save the game and enjoy the comedy.

Super Daryl Deluxe is difficult game to describe due to its strange narrative and mix-match of gameplay elements. It draws inspiration from many movies and games alike and while it certainly could have used a lot more polish, it's a worthy effort and a promising start to a brand new indie development team.
Super Daryl Deluxe could be something really special if it was better curated, but there's simply too much fluff for it to be at its best. Developers need to remember that sometimes less is more, and that it's better to leave players wanting more rather than wanting to bounce before the credits roll. There are some great ideas here, and some really funny writing, but the good moments are all surrounded by a bunch of middling ones.
An enjoyable game despite somewhat repetitive combat that gets by on it's writing for the most part. A fun level up system and some entertaining skills keep things interesting and as long as you can deal with the fetch quests you will have a good time.
Super Daryl Deluxe offers up a humorous story backed by its great amount of customization and exploration. One of my favorite things about the game was that you never knew what twist or turn it was going to take.
This could have been a truly great game if it was more closely designed and didn't offer as much filler. I can understand that the developers were going for something ambitious here but it unfortunately has resulted in a flawed product that still shows plenty of potential.
Super Daryl Deluxe is a really funny game that features outstanding visual presentation and unique and creative areas to traverse. Unfortunately it falls short in the gameplay department, with repetitive and boring combat. Still, the game is worth a shot if you like mysteries, comedy, and want something completely strange on your Switch.
Super Daryl Deluxe isn't that bad a game. You'll face the classic trope of the RPG difficulty spike in each new area and maybe a menu bug along the way but for the RPG fans among you it has plenty for you to do and see that you'll spending a fair amount with Daryl and a host of familiar faces.
Super Daryl Deluxe is a fun, humorous ride that goes all-in on its strange vision. Unfortunately, nondescript quests, unclear objectives, and uneven balance prevent it from becoming anything more
There are videogames that have issues and are held back from greatness by a series of missteps. Super Daryl Deluxe is a special case, because its wounds are self-inflicted. There were clearly a number of other directions this game could have gone in, but the ridiculous path it chose is probably what makes it so intriguing. The blatant repetition, the largely pointless narrative, the unlikeable cast; if even one of these elements were out of place, then the adventure would probably fall apart. Frankly, this is a baffling conclusion to arrive at, but few titles are designed to own up to their bad qualities. This one knows it has poor ideas, and runs with them anyway. It's actually kind of admirable, but still really hard to recommend on a whim.
Dan & Gary Games has given the Metroidvania-RPG genre a fair crack of the whip with Super Daryl Deluxe, but its needless amount of monotonous side quests and its floaty, button-mashing combat negates the occasional humorous highlights. There is a good game in here somewhere, but plenty of fat trimming is in order before you can get to it.
