Underworld Ascendant has its cons: long loading times, rough gameplay and a lousy AI. However, it has good points such as a good atmosphere and a quite realistic interplay of shadows and lights. In addition to who liked the Ultima Underworld installments, they will enjoy it a lot.

As a spiritual successor of the Ultima Underworld series, Underworld Ascendant fails in almost every way.The promising introduction is followed by a brisk quality drop. A wasted potential.

Simply put, the game seems unfinished and was likely rushed to market resulting in a horribly broken world that offers no incentive to return to it, even if future patches alleviate some of the myriad of issues.

Underworld: Ascendant is a very ambitious RPG from a well-seasoned staff that knows the genre. Unfortunately, there is so much that gets in the way of having a great time; a wasted potential from some talented individuals.
