hortcomings aside, Daemon X Machina is exactly what you would hope it would be on PC, which doesn’t fall short of everything you’d want from an Armored Core successor. If you min-max the hud, get it set up how you want, the game itself is even more enjoyable than before, it’s absolutely marvelous as some might say.

Daemon X Machina sets the bar for robot action games. The addictive mecha fighting is almost flawless, but it's complemented by so many other incredible parts to the game. There's a rich, unique world filled with incredible and memorable characters, endless and addictive customisation, gorgeous visuals and a jaw-dropping soundtrack. Daemon X Machina rarely stumbles, and even when it did, I still couldn't help but be impressed by this amazing new experience.

Daemon X Machina delivers massive mecha-action in the style of Armored Core, that in fact sets no new impulses to the genre, has to fight with an actual interesting, but weak presented story and could scare off some new entrants with the loadout-mechanics, but actually plays very well and delivers enough inducement to play it beyond the story mode. Fans of Armored Core and mecha-action in general eventually find enough reasons for a buy.

All in all, Daemon x Machina is about the best that one can hope for from an Armored Core fill-in. It isn't quite as good as the highs of the tragically sleeping franchise, but it's on par with the average. If you like mecha, customization, and blowing up stuff, and you have a tolerance for the learning curve of the controls, then Daemon x Machina will keep you happy. Daemon X Machina is definitely a fun, adrenaline filled experience, and an impressive one at that. I've never delved into this kind of shooter before, but I would say that I have received a fantastic introduction into the genre with an impressive choice of customisation, satisfying gameplay, and intriguing plot, not to mention fantastic multiplayer... it makes me rather excited for the planned update to add competitive multiplayer modes. Considering the dearth of Mech games, Daemon X Machina is bound to get anyone's attention. Rather than allow itself to serve as mere niche fulfilment, this rises above through a solid balance between accessibility and depth. With just a little effort, you can make the battlefield your own, cutting through countless enemies like… *sigh* a hot knife through butter. The variety of armaments, armours, and skillsets allow veterans to create a thoroughly customized experience. Of course, they'll have to deal with a rough frame-rate, as well as a dreadful last boss. In the long run, those are small fees to pay.

While I appreciate that it at least tries to craft an intriguing narrative instead of just putting in a throwaway story, the dialogue is admittedly a bit rough around the edges. The game could also be grindy, particularly if you want to get the best gear. Even with its issues, however, the excellent core combat makes this game worth a look, especially if you’re a mech fan. In the end, I enjoyed DAEMON X MACHINA, but this comes from the perspective of someone who always was interested in the genre. The single player campaign is a bit of a wash, but your experience depends on what you want from the game. Daemon X Machina excels at playing against skilled human opponents and taking the time and care to customize your arsenals.

Daemon X Machina works as you’d expect from the first entry into a new IP, taking few chances on story or combat, but delivering a relatively solid, if uninspired, twitch-heavy action game.

Daemon X Machina offers plenty of customization, and fans of mecha anime and games will love its style, but its monotonous mission structure holds the game back and keeps it from truly standing out.

DAEMON X MACHINA gets a lot right, but at the end of the day, there’s enough wrong here to hold the game back from being great.

Daemon X Machina can really look visually stunning and sound amazing. But when playing the game, I just can't shake a feeling of disappointment. Daemon X Machina can be beautiful and ugly, and only the biggest mech fans will be able to look past the less flattering half of the game's visage. Great music and a great sense of style can't mask the fact that this game feels either boring or frustrating to play.

Daemon X Machina is an underwhelming mech game that offers too few enjoyable qualities to recommend, even for the fans of the genre. Fleeting fun from the action is buried beneath a poorly told story, lackluster presentation, and barebones mechanics.

Daemon X Machina is a mediocre release with a terrible story, monotonous missions, uncomfortable camera, low resolution graphics and problems with balance. Art, battles with huge robots and a powerful soundtrack are great. In iTunes there is a pre-order for the full version of the soundtrack and it will be the right purchase for fans of "metal". What can not be said about the game itself.

Far too flawed from a technical point of view, Daemon X Machina is also quite redundant in the long run. The Arsenal is really enjoyable to control but that's pretty much it.

Daemon X Machina has many of the ingredients of a great mech combat game but the end result isn’t wholesome. It’s flat, lacking in flavour, and gets stale all too quickly.
