One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 has the unusual honor of being both one of the best anime-based games and best Warriors games I've ever played. It has its flaws, including the tiresome return of Giant foes and the usual Warriors repetitiveness, but it's a great example of how to reinvigorate something that seems like a tired formula. If you're a One Piece fan or a fan of the Warriors franchise, PW4 is absolutely worth a go. Once you've taken a bite of gum-gum, you won't be able to resist more.

For fans, this is a must-have for sure. Anyone on the fence though might do well to give it a try simply because it’s takes itself far less seriously than similar games. The co-op play is a neat inclusion as well. A welcome addition to the series then and a step in the right direction moving forwards.

Making a mistake on a crossover between the Warriors franchise and one of the most iconic animes of all time is almost impossible and One Piece Pirate Warriors 4 shows why. The action in the battlefield is extremely fun, the bigger focus on certain arcs of the story is welcomed and the experience as a whole brings hours of great fun, even if it stumbles on its localization in portuguese.

One Piece Pirate Warriors 4 is a fan's dream game, as it takes the iconic battles and moments of eight major story arcs and puts you right in the action like never before. Combat is fun and flashy while still managing to be surprisingly thoughtful, and although a few characters aren't a joy to control, a majority of the cast is an absolute delight to play as. One Piece Pirate Warriors 4 is a jolly good time.

The best way to describe One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 is the best version you could hope for. Regardless of where story and gameplay lack, it's impossible to cover anything, especially when there will be more in the future and a lot of the faults are a result of this being a Dynasty Warrior game. If you can get past that, this is a wonderful tribute to One Piece and allows some of the latest and most expressive arcs shine. At least enough to think it is worth considering.

One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4, then, is not only the best Pirate Warriors game to date - as you would expect - but maybe, just maybe, the best Musou game available at the moment. One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 makes itself approachable and worth sticking with for the long haul thanks to an incredible use of its source material, a huge cast of characters to master and the type of mission structure that offers tons of fun in small/large doses.

One Piece. Pirate Warriors 4 is not a bad game at all as it offers a lot of frenetic and chaotic battles with simple yet fun gameplay mechanics. However, it is really predictable and its contents are what many fans (from both the anime and Musou series) would expect. Its more of the same formula we have seen in previous titles, though that is not necessarily bad or wrong; only not amusing.

One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 struggles to outdo its fantastic predecessor, but it's still great fun to smash through hordes of enemies alongside such a colourful cast of characters. The game's delightful and diverse roster really is its greatest strength, and thanks to an emphasis on building combos, the combat system can be surprisingly rewarding, despite its repetitive nature. One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 is a huge game that allows players to relive iconic battles like never before, playing as one of the 40 plus characters. There's so much for fans and newcomers to enjoy but nothing new or special to stop the game becoming monotonous after a while. Also the same problems that I feel have plagued musou games still exist, disappointing camera control which isn't awful but can make boss battles a pain at times. The difference in difficulty between bosses and grunts is like Heaven and Earth. They are pretty much useless and wait to be killed, they just need to put up a fight.

The gameplay is fun and the combat sequences can put a smile on a player's face, not to mention the truckloads of content. At the same time, its performance is not the best and the game loses fluidity in some moments. It also suffers from a shoddy plot development, which makes it less suitable to be a good candidate for representing the animated series, and doesn't match its Warriors peers.

One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 is fun or not? If that's the question you're asking, the answer we have to give you is: Yes and no. The formula is pretty much the same one we're already used to, without much variation on the theme: destroy the first horde of enemies, head to zone 1, defeat the boss, and repeat everything. Despite a roster of characters as varied and vast as ever, this time Omega Force's recipe seems to have become stale, and would probably need a restyling, both in terms of gameplay and from a graphical and technical point of view. Recommended mainly to die-hard fans of the franchise, One Piece and musou.
