Hard 5. Survivor 6. Grounded In addition to this there’s is a CUSTOM Difficulty option that allows you to fine-tune various aspects of the challenge. PERFORMANCE Fidelity Mode Resolution - Native 4K Frame Rate - Targets 30fps With 120Hz output enabled you target 40fps Performance Mode Resolution - Dynamic 4K (often) Rendering Natively at 1440p then upscale upto 4K Frame Rate - Targets 60fps With VRR Unlocked frame rate can hit 90fps in less demanding Scenes MUSIC/ AUDIO Highly recommend to play with headphones. A very immersive world with high quality audio. VOICE ACTING Troy Baker who voices JOEL does an incredible job from the first time you see him to the ending credits this man leads you down a path that will keep you sat at the edge of your seat for the full time your playing. The angry and aggression to the protective and caring tones in his voice are just brilliant they bring another level to the story that doesn’t get spoken about enough. Ashley Johnson who voices Ellie couldn’t have done a better job, she draws you in to let you know that her performance isn’t anything to be trifled with. The second she meets JOEL for the first time she set the tones for the rest of the story and honestly I don’t think there was a better actor for the role. CONTROLS/ ACCESSIBILITY The controls are intuitive enough nothing overly complicated. Now for the players who have disabilities and need accessibility options, this game allows you to play the complete game one handed. It has some of the best accessibility I’ve seen in any game. From physical - Hearing - Eye sight, this game allows you to experience it from start to finish. MAIN PROTAGONIST Joel - Father figure and a one man army Ellie - Young survivor with the weight of the world on her shoulders SIDE CHARACTERS Tess voiced by Annie Wersching (R.I.P) STORY Prologue So we kick off with the beginning of what is one of the best openings of any entertainment media of all time, the emotions you’ll be feeling within the first 30 minutes -1 hour will be exhausting. As the chaos is running out of control JOEL with his daughter SARAH and his younger brother TOMMY try to escape the city. Not knowing what to expect they fight their way through to the safety zone, and along the way something happens that will change the course of JOEL’s life forever. The Quarantine Zone After that gut punch we fast forward 20 years we get introduced to TESS, our first task is to find ROBERT a smuggler who sold our guns to the FIREFLIES. While looking for ROBERT you need to scavenge for parts to upgrade your WEAPONS during your journey, don’t rush take your time because once you’ve left an area you can’t go back, so make your you’ve scavenged everything you can before moving onto the next zone. The Cargo Now you’ve been introduced to ELLIE you must find a way to make sure she gets to where she needs to go no matter what. Once you journey outside the wall this is where any mistake could cost you your life so be careful. You’ve now established that Ellie has been infected, so all decisions matter whether that means killing everything in your path or taking the stealth approach, but be aware your ammo isn’t unlimited so make sure to plan ahead. The Journey Begins This is where the game really starts, from this point on you must do anything to survivor. The world is grim and broken and anything and everything is going to try to stop you from getting to your destination. With Tess dead it’s up to you to protect Ellie and fulfil Tess’s last wishes and get here to Tommys. A reluctant JOEL with ELLIE journey across an infected, cold and apocalyptic USA to Tommys to try and find the location of the FIREFLIES. You eventually make it to TOMMYS after some brutal encounters and a lot of blood being shed along the way, friends lost and enemies slaughtered you take a breather and explain to TOMMY the seriousness of your situation. He directs you towards the University of Eastern Colorado the last known location of the FIREFLIES. WINTER Winter hits and JOEL is incapacitated, ELLIE scared and alone must find antibiotics for JOEL. While scavenging for food she stumbles across a stranger also looking for resources called DAVID. You soon find out that this man isn’t what he seems to be, he and his group are sinister and will do ANYTHING to survivor. DAVID has cruel and vile intentions for ELLIE. Once you’re free you find yourself in an abandoned restaurant where DAVID is stalking you. JOEL injured and barely walking fights his way to ELLIE just in time to see ELLIE strike DAVID down and get ELLIE out of there. Eventually JOEL recovers and with everything that’s gone on up to this point has been an emotional rollercoaster, The end is near, JOEL and ELLIE make there way to the hospital in SALT LAKE CITY where they finally meet MARLENE only for JOEL to discover not just that he has fulfilled TESS’s last wish but that if they make the cure it will be like him losing his daughter SARAH all over again. At this point emotions are flying and a decision MUST be made, does he let ELLIE die and cure the whole world or does he stand up and destroy everything in his path to get ELLIE back and take her home. As the fighting gets more and more chaotic JOEL becomes even more desperate to make sure he gets the ELLIE in time otherwise this whole journey has been for nothing. He sees the operating room door enters and grabs ELLIE and escapes the hospital. The Ending Arriving back at TOMMYs ELLIE troubled by JOELS decision to bring her home she decides to ask him if it was all true was she the last hope for mankind? JOEL with all the information at hand decides to say “NO there’s plenty of people out there”, ELLIE after a long pause responses with “okay”. Do you think JOEL did the right thing or should he have put his emotions aside and saved the world instead of one little girl? SIDE CONTENT N/A there isn’t any, this is a linear game simply go A>B and enjoy the journey. GAMEPLAY The gameplay is slow but meaningful, with everything that’s happening within the story the game slows down and lets you soak it all up. These moments are crucial for the story to flow and let the player deal with there emotions and process everything that’s gone on. COMBAT Hand to hand, guns, bow & stealth are all great options to take down your enemies. The combat is slow and methodical you must make every second count. EXPLORATION This isn’t an open- world game so you won’t be exploring a huge map all at once but instead you’ll be exploring small areas with a lot of detail and resources in each area. ENVIRONMENT The environments are beautiful especially on the Remake they’ve made sure that when you’re either in a dark grim subway tunnel or the sunny outside you get the full experience, They make you feel like you live in that world they’ve created and honestly it’s a stunning world they’ve made.
