Longtime fans of the series love seeing mentions of past characters in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and this is a game that has no shortage of wonderful little references. The cozy life simulation franchise gained many players over the worldwide pandemic, introducing the cheerful villagers to a whole new audience. Due to this, sometimes the subtly crafted references may cause a slight bit of confusion to people who are new to Animal Crossing games, although many times it may not even be noticeable unless someone can recognize them.

Reddit user, Infiniti_Blue, stumbled across a simple statement in their game after having Rescue Services save them from an unfortunate decorating incident. The Operator of Rescue Services remarked, "So ya got 'auto-saving,' huh? Means ya can't reset things here". Although Infiniti_Blue wasn't familiar with what the statement referred to, many commenters in the thread immediately recognized the reference to grouchy Mr. Resetti.
