Video game retailer GameStop has brought back its Buy 2 Get 1 Free deal on used games. GameStop's best days may be behind it, but 2025 could prove to be a huge year for the struggling company. While more GameStop store closures are expected, some major releases on the horizon could help it hang on.

2025 is going to be a massive year for the video game industry. Nintendo is expected to launch the Switch 2 console at some point next year, plus Rockstar Games is going to release Grand Theft Auto 6 in the fall. Both releases will be a big deal for GameStop. In the meantime, gamers can expect GameStop to continue trying to draw customers in through other means, like with its ever-popular Buy 2 Get 1 Free deal on used games.
