According to Xbox insider Jez Corden, Bethesda may be gearing up to reveal a remake or remaster of the 2006 RPG The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion in January 2025. This corroborates a leak first seen earlier in December, prompting fans of The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion to begin their celebrations a tad early.

First released in 2006, The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion was the long-awaited follow-up to 2002's The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind and quickly grabbed the attention of critics and fans alike. Still dubbed one of the greatest games ever made by many players, Oblivion won a flood of year-end awards and continues to be praised for its lore, open world, story, and music. While its graphics were notable at release, nearly two decades have passed since Oblivion hit store shelves, prompting many fans of the title to ask Bethesda for a new coat of paint. While a popular fan-created mod has reimagined Oblivion with Skyrim's engine, an official remaster may be announced in the coming weeks.
