Third Person Halo Discovered As Part Of Massive Batch Of Leaks

Since the original release of Halo: Combat Evolved in 2001 on the original Xbox, Halo has been well-regarded as one of the preeminent first-person shooters. Its influence spans decades, and its impact is undeniable.

Xbox isn’t doing too hot right now. In fact, it hasn’t been for a while. Was the console's rise just a stroke of luck in the form of Halo?

But what if Halo was a third-person shooter a la Gears of War? It turns out that it was a real possibility at one point. And thanks to a massive batch of leaks, we now have our first look at what could have been many moons ago.

The batch of leaks, which total more than 90GB, seemingly come from Digsite, a group of modders that were working with Halo Studios on restoring lost or cut content. They span over 25 years of Halo's history, including Halo's pre-Xbox origins, when it was being considered for the Mac.

One of the biggest elements of the leak is the cut third-person beta.
