Enter the Gungeon's sequel, Exit the Dungeon, will be releasing for PC and console this year.
Developer Dodge Roll Games announced on Twitter that Exit the Gungeon will be released on PC and console "early this year." The game was an Apple Arcade exclusive when it released with the platform in September 2019. While Enter the Gungeon was a top-down bullet hell, Exit the Gungeon is a 2-D shooter. The game has players riding an elevator that is constantly moving upward. The player still has to dodge bullets, but must do so while also avoiding falling. The goal is to get out of the gungeon before it collapses. Much like its predecessor, Exit the Gungeon features lots of guns, big baddies to shoot, and bullets everywhere. While it was not mentioned which consoles the 2-D shooter will be releasing on, it is most likely coming to the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch alongside PC.
Dodge Roll also announced that their Enter the Gungeon spin-off, Enter the Gungeon: House of the Gundead, will be coming to arcades in early 2020. Rather than being a top-down shooter, House of the Gundead is a light-gun game styled after the House of the Dead series. There is no mention of the game coming to PC or consoles at this time.
Enter the Gungeon first released in 2016 for PC and the PlayStation 4. The game eventually made its way to mobile devices, Nintendo Switch, and the Xbox One. Dodge Roll did tweet that the game had reached over three million copies sold. The developer was originally making a paid expansion for Enter the Gungeon, but those plans were scrapped. A final free update was released instead. The update introduced Gungeoneers The Paradox and The Gunslinger. The update also added new guns, a floor with a new boss, and gameplay tweaks and improvements. Also added was Rainbow Mode. In this mode, players start each level with a Rainbow Chest, and can only take one item or gun from that chest. Finally, players were given the ability to pet dogs.
