It is no surprise that the Battlefield franchise has been struggling to resonate with fans as of late, but the developers are holding the largest playtest the franchise has seen to date for Battlefield 6 to hopefully bring back the player base. The launch of Battlefield 5 was disastrous for both EA and Dice, as not only was the marketing very lackluster, but fans were less than thrilled with the story being historically inaccurate.
According to Insider Gaming, Battlefield 6 playtests are gearing up to begin and will include a free-to-play battle royale mode. The goal for the developers is to test the title as thoroughly as possible and get player feedback to avoid yet another catastrophic launch.
Not only was Battlefield 5 a huge miss for EA and DICE, but Battlefield 2042 had its fair share of issues at launch. Filled with bugs, launching errors, and players being kicked back into the lobby for seemingly no reason, the title ended up forcing several fans of the franchise to turn their backs on the games entirely.
