Mario Kart 8 Deluxe has some serious legs on it. The title, when combined with its Wii U counterpart, has sold over 70 million copies and is the fifth-best-selling video game of all time, behind Minecraft, GTA 5, Wii Sports, and PUBG: Battlegrounds.

Despite being eight years old now, though, or 11 if you include the Wii U version, the title is still selling like hotcakes, with Nintendo revealing it was the second-best-selling game on the Switch in the last quarter.
In Nintendo's Q3 of the 2025 financial year, the company confirmed that Mario Kart 8 Deluxe had sold another 5.38 million units. This brought it to 67.35 million units sold, with another 8.46 million copies shifted on the Wii U.
Nintendo also confirmed that the Switch has sold just over 150 million units. This means that with 67 million copies of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe sold, the game is in almost two-thirds of all Switch owners' hands.
