After a remaster of Days Gone was officially announced during PlayStation's February 2025 State of Play, fans have taken to social media to once again lament the loss of a sequel. Days Gone released to mixed reception in 2019, which ultimately led to the budding zombie franchise's demise despite protestation from those who enjoyed the experience.
During PlayStation's State of Play, Sony confirmed that Days Gone will be getting a current-gen remaster, releasing on April 25, 2025. New content will be added, including permadeath mode and more. Players can upgrade their existing PS4 version of the game to the remaster for $10 USD, or purchase it separately.
While the news was met with generally positive reception, plenty of fans have been quick to criticize the move, asking why a sequel was off the cards but a remaster isn't. Users including Endymion used the remaster announcement as a form of petition to call for Days Gone 2 to happen. They posted: "Please play this so Sony gets the message that we want a sequel. This game deserves it!"
With a Metacritic score of 71, Days Gone is far from a failure, but it's safe to say it still fell...
