Skull and Bones will host a special anniversary event to celebrate its release that begins on February 18 . After years of anticipation, the pirate-themed action-adventure game finally launched in early 2024. Officially announced in 2017, development began in 2013 but was struck by multiple delays along the way. With over a decade of work behind it, Skull and Bones generated considerable hype before its release. However, for many fans, it ultimately fell short of the lofty expectations Ubisoft had set.

Skull and Bones was just one of several recent underwhelming big-budget releases from Ubisoft, alongside titles like Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora and Star Wars Outlaws. Despite the rough seas, the game wasn’t a total failure, especially for fans of ship simulators, and the upcoming Ubisoft anniversary event suggests the company hasn’t given up on the swashbuckling title just yet.
