PS5 Reveal Event Scheduled for Tomorrow, March 18

on | OpenCritic

Tomorrow is finally the day Sony lifts the veil on its PS5, with Mark Cerny hosting a presentation online. Cerny is described as the lead system architect for PS5, as he was with PS4, and he's become the recent face of these sorts of presentations for Sony.

The news was revealed on Twitter this morning by @PlayStation who said, "Tomorrow at 9am Pacific Time, PS5 lead system architect Mark Cerny will provide a deep dive into PS5’s system architecture, and how it will shape the future of games." The reveal will unfold live on PlayStation Blog.

We can reasonably expect a full reveal of the console's specs, even if games library and price may be details to come later. Still, this should satisfy many fans' growing impatience with the brand after a quiet start to 2020. The PS5 now presumably sits just eight of so months from launch, but outside of a few exclusives nabbed by Wired, Sony has been very quiet on what the future looks like for its next console.

In comparison, the consistent stream of Xbox Series X news has birthed a constant comparison between the two, even greater than what would be there anyway, it seems. There's no word yet on how long the Sony presentation will go on for, but by the end, we should expect most of our questions should be answered regarding the console itself. As for form factor, we can merely speculate for now, but it would be strange to learn so much in a "deep dive" about the console without ever actually seeing it. Check back tomorrow for the full details.
