The upcoming cozy game set in the Lord of the Rings universe was originally scheduled for release on March 25, 2025. However, the game has been officially delayed, according to an X post on the game's official account. Tales of the Shire's new release date will be July 29th, 2025.

According to the announcement, the delay is meant to give developer Wētā Workshop a chance to really get the game right. Tales of the Shire, says the notice, "needs a bit more simmering." Taking a bit more time perfecting the title will help to make sure that, "from foot-hair styles to the fluffiest cakes, every detail will be just right."
