Dr Disrespect wants Twitch to end his ban after the platform recently changed its ban policy. Herschel “Guy” Beahm IV, also known as Dr Disrespect, was permanently banned from Twitch in 2020, and the reasoning behind it has remained a mystery for nearly four years. In June 2024, a former Twitch employee claimed the ban was related to alleged inappropriate chatting with a minor.
After these revelations came to light, Dr Disrespect faced a lot of backlash from fans and fellow streamers alike. Many companies cut ties with him, including the San Francisco 49ers and Turtle Beach. YouTube also kicked him out of its Partner Program, leading Dr Disrespect to take a break from streaming. He returned to streaming in September 2024 and talked about the controversy, saying the person involved was old enough at the time. Recently, Twitch introduced some changes to its ban policies, including the ability for indefinitely banned streamers to appeal their case after six months.
