Avowed has performed much better than most expected to. The diet-Skyrim comparisons did not faze fans, resulting in great sales for Obsidian's RPG, propelling it to the top of Steam's top sellers charts. It's safe to say that Avowed has managed to carve its own niche in many ways, while missing out in others.
Avowed has varied combat and a substantial length, but feels too shallow to sustain itself.
One of Avowed's original ideas is its Dreamscourge, a rather beautiful fungal infection that's taking over the land. Unlike the dark and dreary Shadow Curse in Baldur's Gate 3 and the terrifying cordyceps infection from The Last of Us, the Dreamscourge is rather pretty to look at. It now seems you'll be able to grow your own Dreamscourge, and can even keep a miniature version of the game's iconic fungal bears.
