Helldivers 2 Has Paused The Galactic War Over Skyrocketing Liberation Rates

Earlier this week, Helldivers 2 gave its players a very fun Major Order, asking them to choose between some fancy new Gas Mines, or to save a bunch of feeble young adults. It was supposed to be a tough choice, harkening back to the good old days when players were made to choose between children and anti-tank mines, but it turns out things were a lot easier than anticipated.

That's because liberating planets in Helldivers 2 was extremely easy for a brief moment, and not many people were sure why. It could have been some clever ploy by Joel to psyche out players, but it turns out these very forgiving liberation rates were completely unintentional.

First announced on the Helldivers 2 Discord server, and later on the game's official Twitter account, it seems as though an error occurred while Arrowhead was updating the game's backend, which caused liberation rates to briefly "skyrocket". This made completing the latest Major Order extremely easy, but Arrowhead has claimed it's "breaking the Galactic War mechanic itself".
