Gamers can now try Google Stadia Pro for free.
Google has announced that players can get two months of Stadia Pro for free. All that is needed is for the trial is a Gmail address. A Pro subscription usually runs for $9.99 a month, and comes with free titles such as Destiny 2 and GRID. Gamers should note that they will be charged for the subscription at the end of the two months of they do not cancel. Those who already have Stadia Pro will not be charged for the nest two months. A number of titles are available for purchase on Stadia, and they will stay with gamers' accounts even if they cancel their plan.
'We're facing some of the most challenging times in recent memory," states Stadia head Phil Harrison (via GameSpot). "Keeping social distance is vital, but staying at home for long periods can be difficult and feel isolating. Video games can be a valuable way to socialize with friends and family when you're stuck at home."
Stadia Pro usually allows players to experience their games at 4K with 60fps as their default setting. However, Google has announced that since the COVID-19 outbreak is causing increased strain on internet usage, the default screen resolution will soon be 1080p.
"To reduce the load on the internet further, we're working toward a temporary feature that changes the default screen resolution from 4k to 1080p," Harrison stated (via IGN). "With increased demand due to more people at home during this time, we're taking a responsible approach to internet traffic."
Google Stadia games can be played on laptops and desktops, and is compatible with a number of mice, keyboards, and controllers, including the DualShock 4 or the Xbox controller. Gamers can opt for the Stadia Premiere Edition, which includes a Stadia controller and three months of Stadia Pro.
