A recent leak from Honkai: Star Rail is teasing a major new update coming to the presentation for pulling characters within the game's gacha system. The gacha system for the massively popular HoYoverse sci-fi RPG serves as one of the game's main ways of acquiring new characters, with multiple roster members added with each update. The ongoing Version 3.1 added Tribbie to the game as a new five-star character, with Mydei also joining later on during the patch. Now, new information is hinting at a major visual upgrade to the gacha system in the next patch.

While Honkai: Star Rail's gacha system has largely stayed the same since its launch, HoYoverse has occasionally looked to tweak things about the game. The developer began to regularly run "triple rerun banners" during some of its updates, allowing players to choose from three different previously-released characters for their rerun. The triple banners have often featured some of Star Rail's most popular characters, with Version 3.0 featuring re-runs for characters like Robin, Lingsha, and Feixiao.
