Developer and publisher Frogwares has announced The Sinking City 2 will soon launch a Kickstarter campaign to propel the sequel towards a projected 2025 release. The Sinking City games are notably inspired by the works of horror author and Cthulhu creator H.P. Lovecraft, and while the first game nestled into the action-adventure genre, the sequel is taking a nose dive straight into survival horror.
The first Sinking City game is considered one of the best games set within an abandoned city, since the haunting events take place in the fictional city of Oakmont, Massachusetts during the 1920s, as the player encounters nightmarish visions while investigating the city’s relentless flood. The predecessor was praised for its open-world detective elements, from discovering clues to concluding cases, alongside the gritty worldbuilding and intriguing writing.
The original Sinking City might be looking to make a comeback in the form of a remaster six years after it was initially released.
