Pokémon TCG Confirms Scarlet & Violet Is Officially Ending In 2025

The Pokémon Trading Card Game is officially moving on from its Scarlet and Violet era. Since 2022, the Pokémon TCG has branded its expansions as part of the Scarlet and Violet era, reflecting the game's focus on characters, Pokémon, and locations from the Pokémon Scarlet and Violet games. However, that era is officially ending later this year, with the launch of Mega Evolution cards and an assumed focus on Pokémon Legends: Z-A.

In a press release from Pokemon.com that was posted as part of the Pokémon Day festivities last week, The Pokémon Company confirmed that it would be shifting the Pokémon TCG to new branding. The new Mega Evolution era will launch later this year, with sets featuring Mega Evolution Pokémon ex cards. Mega Evolution Pokémon ex cards have heavily boosted HP and attack damage, but will cost three Prize cards when defeated.

This marks the first time in over a decade that the Pokémon TCG has not had branding focused on a specific video game.
