We will be able to see what critics think of the upcoming strategy title, Gears Tactics, very soon, as the review embargo for the game will drop early next week.
The review embargo for Gears Tactics will drop on April 27th at 6 a.m. PST. Keep an eye on OpenCritic that day as the reviews poor in, and see what people are saying about the latest game in the acclaimed franchise.
A launch trailer for the game was released not too long ago. In it, we get some details for how the game will work. Gears Tactics is a top-down strategy game similar to the X-Com series. As the game progresses, players will recruit soldiers into their squad, and train them into Gears. There will be five classes in total: Vanguard, Sniper, Support, Scout, and Heavy. There will also be over 150 skills to unlock. Players are able to gain more actions in a turn by performing brutal executions on their enemies. The trailer also states that while there will be no microtransactions, there will be plenty of customization options for gamers' Gears.
Gears Tactics takes place 12 years before the first Gears of War. Cities on the planet Sera are falling to a vicious threat that is emerging from underground: the Locust Horde. Players take control of Gabe Diaz, who is recruiting survivors in order to take out the Locust Horde's relentless leader: Ukkon. Though the game is a top-down strategy title, it will keep the intensity and brutality that the franchise is known for.
Gears Tactics will release for PC on April 28th. It will be available through Steam, the Windows 10 app store, and the Xbox Games Pass for PC. The game is available to be pre-loaded now. The title will come to the Xbox One at a later date.
