The contents of Final Fantasy XIV's 5.3 patch have been revealed, letting us know what to expect when it drops later this summer.

Details for the 5.3 update were released through the latest Letter From The Producer livestream (via Gamespot). The update will include the next wave of main story quests for the Shadowbringers expansion. There will be a new instanced dungeon called The Heroes' Gauntlet. This dungeon will use the Trust system, which lets players quest with NPCs from the story as AI companions to fill whatever roles are needed. There will be another trial boss fight in the main story, though it is not being revealed at this time in order to keep the surprise. All who have not completed the 24-player alliance raid series "The Crystal Tower" will be required to do so before continuing the main story that is being added in the upcoming update.

Patch 5.3 will also include then next part of the NieR Automata crossover raid series YoRHa: Dark Apocalypse. The new dungeon will be called The Puppet's Bunker. Aside from the name, not much else was revealed.

Final Fantasy XIV's 5.3 patch will begin the revamping of A Realm Reborn. One of the changes being made includes about 13% of the main questline either being changed or removed altogether. This is being done in order to cut down the amount of filler in the questline that did not advance the plot. Experience points will be adjusted in these quests to allow players to reach level requirements accordingly.

Flying mounts will be able to fly to A Realm Reborn areas in the new update. In order to do so, players must complete "The Ultimate Weapon" quest. A Realm Reborn areas will not require Aether Currents to unlock.

Final Fantasy XIV is available now on PC and PlayStation 4. The 5.3 patch was planned to release in June, but it may be delayed.
