At a March 9 panel at South By Southwest (SXSW), Sony and Kojima Productions confirmed the release date for Death Stranding 2: On the Beach. Death Stranding 2: On the Beach creator Hideo Kojima also showed off the Collector's Edition and said that preorders for the game will begin on Monday, March 17.
Taking place sometime after the first Death Stranding title, the sequel will see characters like Sam Porter Bridges make their return, along with new cast members. In late February, the PlayStation Store page for Death Stranding 2 was updated and included the game's premise and primary mechanics. The store update confirmed that the Social Strand system would come back and that open-ended encounters would give players more agency over how to resolve a situation with various enemies. Death Stranding 2 will also explore questions about human connectivity in a post-apocalyptic open world.
