In what would be a first for Microsoft, an Xbox handheld gaming console could be on the horizon, and it might release sooner than expected. There is already some key information to note about the potential upcoming console, including its appearance and various capabilities.

As reported by Windows Central, the handheld device has been given the codename "Keenan" and is said to have "Xbox design sensibilities", as well as an Xbox guide button. In this case, the overall aesthetic of the device could be very similar to what we're already familiar with when it comes to Xbox hardware.

Nintendo has been known to be a connoisseur of handheld gaming for some time, and even Sony has dipped their toes in the pool with the PSP and PS Vita. This new endeavor would be brand-new for Microsoft, so there's a lot that can be both speculated and hoped for. It is worth noting that at the time of writing, Microsoft has yet to confirm these reports on both the next-gen console and handheld, making this all speculation.
