A recent leak from a Canadian retailer could potentially confirm the release date for the upcoming Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter remake, hitting store shelves later this year. While not as widely known by Western audiences, the Nihon Falcom-developed Trails series has a rich and storied history filled with plenty of beloved games. The Trails series has seen 13 different main-series games across its many different story arcs, including Trails of Cold Steel and the recent Trails Through Daybreak games. Now, a classic game from the franchise's roots will soon be receiving an updated version.
Nihon Falcom first revealed Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter late last year as a remake of the game that kicked off the franchise. The original Trails in the Sky first released in 2004 and follows main character Estelle Bright in her journey to become a senior "Bracer," ultimately becoming involved in a plot to overthrow the monarchy of Liberl. The game would become a cult classic, with many fans hailing Estelle as one of the best protagonists in the JRPG genre.
