A lot of players have been silently moving in the shadows and crossing blades with Japanese guards since the release of Assassin's Creed Shadows, and the game passed a milestone as the second-biggest sales launch in the franchise's history. While there are no exact sales numbers available yet, we now have a pretty good idea that Assassin's Creed Shadows is doing well financially, with only Assassin's Creed Valhalla having a bigger launch, and the reason why is mighty specific.

As reported by IGN, an internal email from Ubisoft revealed some metrics of the game's launch. Assassin's Creed Shadows had the second-highest day-one sales revenue in the franchise’s history, beaten only by Assassin's Creed Valhalla. Ubisoft previously confirmed Shadows had the largest number of players for an Assassin's Creed launch, with a count of 2 million, but many of those were Ubisoft+ subscribers, so the exact sales figures may not match the record-breaking player count.
