No Man's Sky's next update has been unveiled: Relics. This will let you live out your space palaeontologist dreams, as the update will let you collect the skeletal remains of alien species that used to roam the galaxy.
Alongside the reveal trailer for the latest update, Hello Games has given us a breakdown of how Relics will work. Here, the devs say that they want players to feel like "true palaeontologists", piecing together their finds so they can try to figure out what these extinct aliens used to look like.
"Nothing is more exciting than the idea of digging down and unearthing some hidden treasure, which is where the idea for our latest update started," the announcement reads. "With our newest update, RELICS, players can become palaeontologists, digging up the skeletal remains of alien creatures which used to inhabit these worlds.
"There is a truly huge variety of procedural prehistoric bones, in all shapes and sizes, to excavate and collect. It’s up to you how you reassemble them and there’s a lot of fun to be had building ever-more outrageous skeletons to put on display in your bases-turned-museums or share with your fellow Travellers."
