The Legend of Zelda Movie Gains 2027 Release Date

Nintendo and Sony Pictures announced on Friday the release date for the live-action The Legend of Zelda movie through the newly-launched Nintendo Today calendar app. Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes director Wes Ball is helming the project for the unlikely allies Nintendo and Sony. It will be released in theaters on the same day worldwide.

An Exact Release Date

According to the Nintendo Today app (via Wario64), the Legend of Zelda movie will launch on March 26, 2027 in theaters everywhere around the world. No further details have been given about the cast or even most of the crew yet. Series creator Shigeru Miyamoto will be producing the project alongside Avi Arad and Ball. Arad has produced some noteworthy films over the years, including Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse (and its sequel), the Uncharted film and the Tobey McGuire-led Spider-Man 2. Unfortunately, Arad has also produced some stinkers, such as Morbius, Fantastic Four (2005) and the horribly-received Borderlands adaptation. Avi Arad should have "mixed bag" as his middle name.
