Starting April 1 and running until April 29, PUBG: Battlegrounds invites players to experience its new Winner Winner Romantic Dinner—a limited-time dating sim that lets them date and chat with their firearms. Alongside this romantic twist, PUBG: Battlegrounds players can also participate in a new cooperative in-game event running from April 1 to April 8.
PUBG has come a long way since its initial release in 2017, when it took the industry by storm with its battle royale gameplay, inspired by the Japanese film Battle Royale (2000). The game features realistic weapons and pits players (or teams) against each other in a shrinking map, battling to be the last ones standing. Compared to the games the genre has spawned since, PUBG has a steep learning curve and a slower pace. While it was incredibly popular at launch, it no longer holds the same dominance. Nevertheless, developer Krafton continues to support the game, releasing updates and introducing fresh content—now taking an unexpected romantic turn for a limited time.
