The file sizes for first-party launch window games for Nintendo Switch 2 have been revealed, and they're going to take up a surprising amount of space on the console's 256GB internal storage. The Switch 2 will also offer additional storage expansion with compatible mircoSD Express Cards, which can cost anywhere from $60 to $150 at some retailers depending on the desired amount of space. In the midst of all the Nintendo Switch 2 reveal turmoil, especially with regard to high Switch 2 game prices, many fans may not need to buy any additional storage.
As revealed on the Japanese My Nintendo Store (text in Japanese), the Switch 2 first-party launch window games have much smaller game files than many may originally have thought (via VGC). Mario Kart World is the largest launch title, at 23.4GB, which is only around 10% of the total internal storage. Donkey Kong Bananza is listed as a 10GB game, and some other titles are even smaller, with Super Mario Party Jamboree: Nintendo Switch 2 Edition being 7.7GB. The Nintendo Classics: GameCube app is 3.5GB but will get larger as more titles are added.
