The gaming community was rife with gags for April 1st, and the Helldivers 2 developer Arrowhead Game Studios even released a patch on the day to fix a handful of crash issues, but the size of the Sickle and Liberator weapons were changed just to mess with players.
Helldivers 2 launched back in February 2024 and instantly found success in the FPS genre, serving as a direct sequel to its 2015 predecessor. Players man the titular shock troops battling against the Terminids and Automaton invasions to protect humanity in the 22nd century, and the live-service FPS is frequently updated with new orders. Following a flurry of exciting rumors, Helldivers 2 recently deployed a new Major Order returning players to Malevelon Creek, where the titular troops defended the iconic location against the Automaton hordes.
