The Boston-based studio behind an upcoming multiplayer game set in The Witcher universe has been absorbed into CD Projekt Red. The multiplayer Witcher game, known only as Project Sirius, remains a mystery. Its existence was first hinted at in 2022, when job listings revealed that CDPR was working on a multiplayer game pertaining to one of its IPs.
But it's official: The Molasses Flood, the lead studio behind Project Sirius, has now merged with CDPR according to a pop-up on The Molasses Flood's official website, via a new report from VG247. The message reads, "We want to let you know that on April 1, 2025, The Molasses Flood LLC (“TMF”) merged with CD PROJEKT RED Inc. (“CDPR Inc.”), a company being a part of the CD PROJEKT Group. As a result of the merger TMF, in its former legal state (of a separate legal entity) ceased its operations, while CDPR Inc. assumed the rights and obligations of TMF."
As far as we can tell, the upcoming Witcher multiplayer game is still in pre-production, despite the merge. Staff at The Molasses Flood will continue their work on Project Sirius as part of the wider CDPR group. Nor will...
