Nintendo is Reportedly Sending Most of Its Vietnam-Made Switch 2 Consoles to the US

Nintendo has recently shipped over a million Switch 2 consoles manufactured in Vietnam to the United States amid tariff hikes imposed by the US on imports from the rest of the world. Ever since Donald Trump was reelected President of the United States, the global markets have been moving closer to a trade war between the US and China, and it seems that Nintendo is trying to avoid the worst effects by shipping its Switch 2 consoles to America as quickly as possible.

The Nintendo Switch 2’s price was officially revealed to be $449.99 (or $499.99 if bundled with Mario Kart World) during the recent Nintendo Direct, with the console slated to release on June 5. However, both gamers and Nintendo seemed increasingly concerned as Trump imposed tariffs on nearly every country in the world, including 47% on goods imported from Vietnam and 67% on China. Soon after the original announcement, these tariffs were reduced to 10% for 90 days for most countries, and increased to over 100% for China.

Nintendo provides a reason for why the Nintendo Switch 2 uses digital shoulder buttons like the original Switch instead of analog triggers.
