The planned multiplayer mode for Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines has been detailed for the first time by one of the game’s programmers, one that would have been heavily inspired by Valve’s Counter-Strike.
Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines has a lot of cut content that has been found, and in some cases, restored by fans. As such, code relating to a multiplayer mode that was never finished has been known for a while.
Fallout creator Tim Cain, who came onto the Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines project at a later date, has mentioned the cut Counter-Strike-style mode in the past, dubbing it “CounterBite”. In a new video on his YouTube channel, Cain has given a detailed breakdown of how the mode would have worked if it had shipped.

According to Cain, the multiplayer mode would have involved a team of vampires vs. a team of human vampire hunters working for the New Order of Leopold. The idea was that the vampires would have supernatural powers, while the humans would have better weaponry, as well some unique Disciplines of their own.
