Tales of Arise has been delayed for the time being.
It has been announced that Tales of Arise has been delayed indefinitely. On the Bandai Namco news page, it was revealed that the game was delayed in order to give the team behind the title time to achieve the quality that the envision for players.
"The goal for Tales of Arise is to provide a familiar but innovative gameplay experience to fans of the series, while pushing the technical envelope to deliver a high level of graphical quality to impress both long-time players and those who have never played a Tales Of game," stated producer Yusuke Tomizawa. "Development on the title has moved steadily forward in 2020 as we overcame challenges along the way.
"While COVID-19 has affected some aspects of development, we've done our best to adapt to the situation and have implemented remote development capabilities for our team.
"However, we will need more time to achieve the quality and provide the gorgeous experience we envision for our players, and therefore we decided to delay the launch timing for Tales of Arise.
"A new launch window update will be provided once we have more details to share."
Tales of Arise was first revealed in 2019. The game will feature a new cast of characters, updated combat, and classic Tales of mechanics. The game will be powered by Unreal Engine 4, with high quality animation being done by Studio Ufotable, who worked on the anime Demon Slayer.
Tales of Arise takes place on the planet Dahna, which has always given reverence to Rena, the planet in the sky, as a land of the righteous and the divine. Stories have been handed down over generations and have become truth, masking reality for those living on Dahna. For 300 years, Rena has ruled over Dahna, taking the dignity and freedom of the people while pillaging the planet of its resources. The tales begins with two people, each born on different worlds, looking to change their fates, and create a new future.
Tales of Arise will release for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
