Details for Pokemon GO's July 2020 Community Day have been released.
On the Pokemon GO blog, it was revealed that July's Community Day will focus on the Ghost-type Pokemon Gastly. The event will be held on Sunday, July 19th. It will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time.
During this month's Community Day, Gastly will appear more frequently in the wild, with there being a chance of encountering a shiny Gastly. Evolving Haunter (Gastly's evolution) during the event or up to two hours after Community Day ends will net players a Gengar that knows the move Shadow Punch. Players can get a surprise for taking a few snapshots during Community Day. There will also be a special one-time purchase July Community Day Box, which will contain 30 Ultra Balls, and Elite Fast TM, two Incense, and two Super Incubators.
For $1, trainers will be able to access the Community Day-exclusive Special Research story: The Great Gastly. In this Special Research story, players will follow Professor Willow as he investigates some spooky happenings in his Mobile lab. It was stated to stay tuned for when tickets for The Great Gastly will go up for sale. It was also noted that this Special Research will not come with an in-game medal.
There will be a couple of bonuses that will go on during Community Day. Eggs will require 1/4 hatch distance when placed inside Incubators during the event. It should be noted that this bonus will not be stacked with other active hatch distance bonuses. Players should also note that they will have to turn on Adventure Sync in order to take advantage of the hatch distance bonus. Also, Incenses that are activated during the event will last for three hours.
