Xbox Games Showcase Set for July 23

The long-awaited Xbox Games Showcase has finally been given a premiere date, and it aligns with rumors from last week that said when it will be.

The Xbox Games Showcase will unfold online on July 23 at 9 am Pacific, with a pre-show hosted by Geoff Keighley on YouTube. At time of writing, neither nKeighleyor Xbox has revealed any more details quite yet, but we can reasonably infer a few obvious appearances.

(Master) Chiefly, there's the obvious Halo Infinite gameplay reveal. Since its debut at E3 2018, we've heard some details, but seen far fewer, and with the game coming to Xbox Series X this fall as the platform's premiere launch title, it's time for the marketing campaign to shift to what players can expect in deep-dive details. The Xbox Games Showcase will do just that.

Also expected are a range of first-party titles from Microsoft's shopping spree of the last two years, getting its first-party efforts up to 15 total studios. Some of those games have already come out, like Bleeding Edge and Minecraft Dungeons, while others we know about but expect to see more, like Psychonauts 2 and Hellblade 2

Then there are the games we don't have confirmed yet but rumors have been buzzing. Most of all in that category is a new Fable project from Playground Games, which is known to have staffed up a second studio to work on an unnamed RPG. The initiative is also rumored to be rebooting Perfect Dark.

From Xbox insider Klobrille on Twitter, it's said that Ninja Theory, Rare, Obsidian, Double Fine, and 343 will all be there among others. That means we can also expect to see more of Everwild and the next secret project from Obsidian.
