"Nobody" At Rockstar Believed The Initial Fall 2025 GTA 6 Release Window

Allegedly, "nobody" at Rockstar Games believed the initial fall 2025 release for Grand Theft Auto 6 was achievable. Earlier today, GTA 6 was officially delayed from fall 2025 to May 26, 2026. The game had a purported release window of fall 2025 since its reveal trailer, but it actually never had an official release date until now. Rockstar Games cited a need to polish the game and deliver a better product as the reason for the delay, but it seems a delay may have been in the works for a while now.

According to Bloomberg's Jason Schreier on Bluesky, no one he had spoken to at Rockstar Games actually believed the fall 2025 release window was real for a long time, stating there was too much work, not enough time, and a desire from management to avoid "brutal crunch." Schreier previously reported that the 2025 release window was looking unlikely (via VGC). Despite that, Take-Two said during an investor presentation back in February that GTA 6 was still on track for a 2025 release. That is, of course, no longer the case.
