While it may not seem like it at first, today’s new Dead by Daylight chapter is actually part of BHVR’s new shift towards quality of life improvements. How can new content be part of a focus on improving existing gameplay, you ask? Well, by adding a new Survivor whose perks mostly involve helping allies, the devs are encouraging players to actually help one another and play altruistically (instead of hiding until the hatch spawns). Given the importance of teamwork in DBD, incentivizing working together is a real QoL improvement.
In all seriousness, Orela Rose has some pretty fun sounding perks. Being able to heal someone 100% faster when they’re on death hook, or giving a haste bonus when taking a protection hit, are both very powerful effects. Pairing Rapid Response with another exhaustion perk seems very strong in the right situation — proccing Balanced Landing and using the aura reading to sprint in the correct direction to fake out the Killer, for example. It will be interesting to see how players take advantage of the new tools Orela provides with her Perks.
