Atari Reveals Another Game for Upcoming Bubsy Collection

On May 6, Atari and Limited Run Games announced that Bubsy in: The Purffect Collection will include the Atari Jaguar game Bubsy in: Fractured Furry Tales as part of the compilation. Though a release date for Bubsy in: The Purrfect Collection remains elusive, the compilation will utilize the Carbon Engine by Limited Run Games to bring each title to modern platforms.

First released in November 1993, the Jaguar was Atari's final console before its later restructuring as a third-party game developer. The Jaguar competed against the Sega Genesis and the SNES, and Atari pitched it as the world's first 64-bit console. In reality, Jaguar's 32-bit processors were not compatible with 64-bit instructions. Although Atari Jaguar games such as Tempest 2000 and NBA Jam: Tournament Edition saw varying degrees of success, the controversial console sold under 150,000 units and was deemed a commercial failure. The Jaguar was discontinued in 1996, though the console remains popular with hobbyist groups.

The Limited Run Games collector's edition of Sega Atlus' Raidou Remasterd: The Mystery of the Soulless Army has some fans surprised at its price tag.
