Xbox and Nintendo recently combined forces to ensure that gaming is about to get a lot more expensive. Mario Kart World established itself as the first $80 game, which was then quickly followed by an Xbox price hike that saw increases on pretty much every product it has. Now that two of the big guns are charging more for games, we're all braced for other publishers to smell the money and follow suit.
One of those publishers is Take-Two, as despite selling Mafia: The Old Country for just $50, the same probably won't be happening with Borderlands 4. During a panel at Pax East on Friday (thanks GamesRadar), Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford was quizzed on exactly how much Borderlands 4 will cost now that games are starting to get even more expensive.
Pitchford doesn't explicitly state the game will be $80 when it launches this September, but he does admit that he "[doesn't] know what the price is going to be." He goes on to suggest there are debates at Gearbox and Take-Two over what the price should be, with one side worried about pushing away potential buyers, and others seeing it as an opportunity to make back more...
