Hard at work getting the Okami sequel up and running, Hideki Kamiya has been enjoying his renewed connections to Capcom. After building a bridge like this, Kamiya had some thoughts about other potential new projects. Among them: a remake to another of his classic titles.
More than 20 years old, the original release of Devil May Cry is certainly old enough - and beloved enough - to earn the remake treatment. And based on recent statements made on his Youtube channel, Kamiya would love to take the reigns of a project like that.
“I usually don’t replay my own games after release," Kamiya remarks, "and Devil May Cry is no exception. But once in a while, I catch gameplay clips and think, ‘yeah, this really does feel like a 24-year-old game design."
The original Devil May Cry has been showing some gray hair as of late. And while that's absolutely within Dante's style, he could certainly stand to get with the times. With how far developers have been able to take game design in the past two decades, a game like this could certainly stand to see some improvements.
