Sega has announced a new reveal event centered around the next Virtua Fighter game will take place in a matter of hours, on May 11. It has been nearly 20 years since the original release of the last mainline Virtua Fighter series game, 2006's Virtua Fighter 5.
Though literal decades and multiple console generations have passed since the last time an entirely new Virtua Fighter graced players' screens, there's no denying that the series still remains among the most influential fighting games of all time. The original Virtua Fighter was one of the first major 3D fighting games, and even today the series' distinct playstyle still maintains a dedicated population of fans.
Despite only recently being announced at the end of last year, Virtua Fighter 6 could end up having a busy year ahead of it when it comes to reveals.
Now Sega has announced what it's calling a "Virtua Fighter Direct" event for May 11, 2025, at 7:00 AM PT, 9:00 AM ET, and 2:00 PM BST.
