A dedicated fan of Palworld has built a mod that reintroduces Pal gliding into Pocketpair’s open-world survival game. When Palworld was released into early access in 2024, the game drew a lot of comparisons with Nintendo’s juggernaut franchise, Pokemon.
In the months since Palworld gained notoriety as "Pokemon with guns", Nintendo has lodged several copyright claims against Pocketpair. The company alleges that certain features within Palworld share similarities found within the Pokemon franchise. The lawsuit has led Pocketpair to patch out certain aspects of the game. While the various courtroom accusations are ongoing, fans of Palworld have resorted to mods to ensure they still have access to some of the game's features.
