Marvel Rivals launched with quite a bang. The unique art style, balanced character synergy, and plethora of Marvel characters set the game up for success. The hero shooter shaped hole that Overwatch 2 left behind also helped, as disillusioned players jumped ship for NetEase's version. It's hard to run out of material with the entire Marvel pantheon at your back.

Of course, the varied selection of characters, along with their cakey backsides also helped. However, Marvel Rivals also focussed on one aspect that many live service games fumble – making sure the battle pass isn't predatory. At launch, players were happy to put in the hours to get unique skins for their mains with the season 0 battle pass. It seems those of you who joined the party late will get the chance to unlock the original battle pass as well.
