Death Stranding 2 Players Already Prefer It Over Original, Says Kojima

According to legendary game creator Hideo Kojima, players already like Death Stranding 2: On the Beach more than its predecessor. Death Stranding 2 had a massive preview event recently, with select media outlets playing dozens of hours of the game. The previews were almost universally positive, with previewers making particular note of the game's improved combat mechanics, high-fidelity graphics, story, production value, and soundtrack. Based on Kojima's latest statement, it seems fans are likely going to echo that sentiment.

In an interview with Edge Magazine for its latest issue (paywalled), Kojima stated that Death Stranding 2 is scoring better with internal testers than the first game did. Sony is also reportedly "pleased" with the current reception (via VGC). Unexpectedly (well, not for Kojima), he also stated he wished the game was currently more controversial, so he could listen to select gameplay feedback, saying: "I do listen to criticism, if the controls need tweaking or if a camera pan is too slow or too fast. But I don’t alter themes or story based on feedback."
